Seller Rules

Listing and fulfillment duties

Sellers must have the right to sell every item, describe condition, quantity, authenticity, and material defects accurately, use platform payment tools, preserve requested evidence, and fulfill or refund orders as required. Illegal, stolen, counterfeit, recalled, dangerous, or otherwise prohibited items may not be listed.

Payment and disputes

Marketplace funds may be held before release under UniConnect's buyer-protection process. When funds are released, UniConnect deducts a three percent marketplace seller fee from the sale price and sends the remaining proceeds to the seller's connected payout account. A timely dispute may pause release. Sellers must cooperate with evidence requests and must not evade fees, solicit off-platform payment, or misrepresent delivery. Review timeframes are service targets rather than guarantees.

For paid marketplace items, the price entered by a seller is the seller base amount per unit. The buyer-facing listing price includes that amount and mandatory UniConnect charges; the seller sees a preview before posting. The three percent seller fee is calculated from the seller base amount, not the buyer-facing price or sales tax. Sellers authorize this disclosed buyer-price construction when listing. Accepted offers follow the same pricing model. The buyer pays one posted price before applicable tax regardless of the supported payment method, and UniConnect bears differences between its pricing model and actual provider costs.

Taxes

Vinci Alexandro Armas, doing business as UniConnect, is a registered New York State sales tax vendor and will collect and remit New York State and local sales tax on all taxable sales of tangible personal property that UniConnect facilitates for delivery or pickup in New York State. This collection and remittance duty belongs to UniConnect; it is not shifted to the seller by these rules.

The current paid-item launch supports reviewed Alfred University campus pickups only, not shipping or off-campus fulfillment. Sellers must accurately identify the actual item, material, use, condition, and any bundle contents, and must not choose a misleading category to obtain an exemption. Used goods, student status, and trade listings do not automatically establish an exemption. Tax treatment uses the actual agreed pickup jurisdiction and applicable product and purchaser evidence. Unsupported products, exemptions, barter valuations, or pickup locations are blocked from payment until reviewed. A listing being visible does not mean its paid checkout has been approved. Staging is a separate sandbox; its test payments and synthetic reviews do not approve live inventory.

For all item listings, including free items and trades, sellers must select an accurate pickup location from UniConnect's fixed Alfred University campus list. Custom entries and off-campus pickup locations are not supported. A listed building does not grant access or establish university approval; arrange a safe, permitted meeting point there. Self-managed tax checkout uses the reviewed physical address associated with that listing's current location, not an arbitrary address supplied by the buyer. A changed or unreviewed location blocks checkout until reviewed. Items with different pickup locations require separate checkouts. If a pickup location changes after checkout begins, cancel the unpaid checkout and update the listing before starting again. For an already-paid order, contact UniConnect before changing the agreed pickup location so the payment and tax treatment can be reviewed.

Sellers are responsible for taxes and reporting applicable to their circumstances. Gross payment reporting is not the same as taxable income. Gain on personal property may be taxable, while a loss on personal-use property is generally nondeductible. Business, inventory, and repeated-sale activity can be treated differently. UniConnect does not provide individual tax advice; sellers should consult a qualified adviser.
